Awesome Game

I had a great time with boulder creek outfitters. Hunting on private cattle ranches, not to see any other hunters around for miles was awesome. The game was plentiful and impressive.

great hunt

We were told up front about the size of animals to expect with no bloated sizes or figures and all met are expectations. There were 4 of us in our group and we killed 4 elk and 3 mulies. The only one who didn't get a mulie buck passed up many nice buck for a trophy and time just ran out.Guides were fantastic accomodations nice and food was ok.

Disappointment All Around

A family member and I booked the pack-in, wilderness black bear hunt in a two bear area. At the time of booking, I was told there would be 4 hunters and 2 guides in camp, which was consistent with the hunt description shown on the BCO website. Further, I was told that there would be a 7-mile horseback ride to the wilderness tent camp. One week prior to arriving, I received a phone call and was told that there would be two different "pack-in" camps. Obviously, the hunt had been overbooked. For the first three days, our "pack-in" hunt consisted of a tent camp situated less than 250 yards from the biggest highway in the area. We hunted in a recently burned area of the national forest; hikers routinely wondered through our camp, and even worse, hikers were seen all around 2 of our baits. Eventually, BCO did move us back to their base camp lodge. There, we had the privilege of hunting with Tony, an excellent guide (who is no longer at BCO). However, we still found ourselves hunting "road baits" - all within 300 yards of major public roads. Between the two of us, we saw one bear in 5 days of hunting. That bear was less than 5 feet in length, and I killed it with 5 minutes of daylight remaining on the last day. After shooting the bear, I walked back to the pick-up point, where another hunter confronted me to tell me that I shot a bear "out from under him." This is not a knee jerk review, while frustrated. I have waited more than 2 months to review this outfitter, and this is an honest review. Simply put, we did not get the hunt for which we paid. The trip could have been worse, but not by much. I have hunted with numerous outfitters, and I easily rank this as my worst guided-hunt experience.

Boone and Crockett Bonanza

It was my pleasure to film an episode of Boone and Crockett Country with CJ Buck CEO of Buck Knives and Tim and Matt Craig owners of Boulder Creek Outfitters in Idaho. This was the 3rd year we have filmed with them and I have nothing but great things to say about their entire team. They truly understand what Fair Chase is all about and they deliver. We were fortunate enough to harvest two Elk that were killed on film at the exact same time. The crew at Boulder Creek got us on them and we stayed on them and eventually were able to take them both a 6x6 and a 5x5. We could film anywhere we wanted but for 3 years in a row we have chosen to go back to Boulder Creek. As a matter of fact I will be returning there this October for another go at the Elk in Unit 13 at the Joseph Ranch area. We are filming an episode of Team Elk. I drew the tag for Unit 13 and I fully expect to take another nice Bull. Our episode will air the second week of October on the Sportsman Channel. You can see the double we took on film. I highly recommend Boulder Creek for Elk, Whitetail, Mule Deer, and Black Bear. Not only are the Craig's great outfitters and owners they are great individuals. If you pick Boulder Creek for a hunt you will not go wrong. Just ask anybody that has been there. Bob George Director of Sales and Marketing Buck Knives, Inc.

I booked this hunt for my father-in-law and me while I was deployed to Afghanistan. I chose this outfitter because they were featured on an outdoor show I saw. Matt made it easy for me, and he answered all my questions by email. My father-in-law has arthritic ankles, and he has trouble walking up and down steep terrain. Matt promised he could get him on animals anyway. We had a great hunt and saw a lot of animals. We both ended up bagging nice bucks, and on the same day. Our guides took great care of us, the accommodations were good, and our camp cook kept us satisfied with hot breakfast and dinner, and bag lunches. Our animals were taken care of by guys who know what they are doing. Everyone was friendly, and we made friends with many other hunters during our stay. Matt made sure our meat was shipped to us from the butcher. The area we hunted was beautiful and wild. We also saw many hunters take nice elk and nice whitetails too. I recommend this outfit, and I would like to bring my father-in-law back for another hunt sometime.

Honest, hard-working & likeable

I really enjoyed hunting with BCO. They were my first outfitter ever and I chose them because they didn't try to feed me a bunch of stories. Their comments to me were realistic. When I got to camp, we had very good discussions on what our expectations were and they worked with us to meet those. This included size of bear, color of bear, type of stand we were willing to use, our physical abilities, etc. This made the experience really nice. We had three hunters in camp and all three tagged out within the first 3 days (one of us on the first day and the other two hunters saw other bears that they chose not to shoot). The largest bear squared at 6' and was black in color. We had two pretty color phase bears that squared approximately 6' and 5'. These guys worked very hard for us every day from the preparation to getting us into location to the care of the animal. I also liked the fact that they took the time to answer our questions as it was the first bear hunt for all three of us. They might have smiled at the question, but never made us feel foolish for those that we asked. In addition to the hunt, we ate very well during the whole week we were there. I am planning another hunt back to BCO in the future with my kids.

Peck,ID

If I do another guided whitetail hunt I would definately come back here. I shot a nice 4X4 buck on the first morning with guides Shane and Kayle in the Peck area. About a 200 yard shot. Probably a 130 class buck, my first whitetail.I wasn't sure who was more excited, Kayle who spotted the buck or me. I was ecstatic and couldn't believe it happened as quick as it did. I did stay out the rest of the day to tag along with the other hunter who eventually took about the same type of buck. The guides were great. Shane has a lot of knowledge of the area and wants to help you get a nice deer. The terrain is perfect for deer and we seen both muleys and whitetail. If I make it out that way for a hunt again I would like to hold out for a bigger deer knowing thier there.

Deep Canyon Success

Easy-going, agreeable guide knew the land, the game and its habits. Used that knowledge to locate a particular buck he'd been seeing while scouting, then to stalk in for a good shot. Stunning country, challenging terrain but guide made hunt as easy, fun and productive as I could hope. He worked well with my wife, too, helping her without undue pressure. We were both comfortable and happy with all aspects of the hunt.

Yukon Territory Hunting Information

The Yukon Territory is a legendary hunting destination. Hunters from all over the world travel to the Yukon for wilderness adventure hunting at its finest. This rugged, remote and beautiful province is nearly untouched by man. It is similar in size to the state of California but with a population of only about 30,000 residents. The Yukon is a vast, pristine wilderness that holds a tremendous variety of trophy game species. You should be in excellent physical condition to maximize your success and to enjoy the Yukon experience.

Utah Hunting Information

Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.

Quebec Hunting Information

Quebec is probably best know as an excellent caribou hunting destination. Hunters from across the globe travel to Quebec to hunt their big Quebec-Labrador caribou migration. In addition to caribou hunting, Quebec offers black bears, Canada moose and whitetails.
