Red Dog beat my expectations

Red Dog Outfitters met and beat my expectations. I booked a Snow Goose hunt in the spring season of 2011. Tim called a few days before to notify me that the Geese had left and while he'd still take me hunting, that it really was just a waste of my money. I kept my deposit in with him for a Deer hunt for my Son and me as I began to trust Tim and his word. A lot of Outfitters I've dealt with would just take you hunting and you're out your money and a wasted day afield. Within a month of booking with Tim for our Archery hunt he had began sending me maps and trail cam pics so I knew what to expect. I saw a lot of nice Deer on the cameras but tried to stay grounded as far as what to expect. Tim was always easy to reach and often contacting me before I thought to contact him about our hunts. Tim called me two different weekends in advance of our actual hunt to see if I could sneak out and try for some Bucks he'd been watching. His other hunters filled their tags early and he was going beyond the call of duty in taking me out early when he could get it done. The first weekend we went to Nebraska on a planned hunt but decided to call Tim and try to hunt as we were just north of his Atwood property 30 miles or so. We were impressed with the stands but only hunted one day and saw Mule Deer only. The next weekend Tim called and said to get out, the weather was great and the moon was right. I made it, but my Son could not. That first morning I passed on a really nice 145 to 150 Buck as I really didn't want to shoot one this early as I had the entire week off with my son on our planned hunt the following week, I did have him at 17 yards though and Tim has a picture of him that morning with the stand I'm hunting in in the background. Our actual dates arrived and Tim was there to welcome us as agreed. We took the tour of the property that I had not hunted yet. Both previous weekends he snuck me out were on other farms he had leased. Matthew, my Son was very excited about what Tim showed us. Tim had advised us to not shoot a Doe the first few days as he said we'd have Does in range more days than not. Just an hour in on our first evening we had five does at 20 yards in front of our two man stand. Matthew wanted to shoot but we trusted Tim and passed. The next morning, which was our first AM hunt, Matthew saw a nice eight point and decided he wanted to shoot. The Deer ducked and the arrow hit him high and penetrated into the back strap. Matthew was devastated watching the Deer run off and go about his business. Trust me when I say that Tim has a bloody arrow policy and when an animal is shot you're done hunting Bucks. I know he wanted to help Matthew but I know he felt strongly that this Buck was not going to make it long term. Matthew made me proud in his sportsmanship and taking Tim's offer to continue to hunt this Deer specifically and own up to what had just happened. He ended up taking his first bow kill the next morning, a nice Doe at 15 yards. Tim happily came to help us pack her out. Tuesday night, day 4 of our hunt, I had gone back to a stand that Tim suggested and saw a really nice 10 point, maybe bigger. I took the shot, hit the animal a little far back but it still felt good. Tim came to help track and within 50 yards he said we needed to back out. We decided to hunt Wednesday AM, right before Thanksgiving, so I could try the first 30 minutes for my own Doe. Tim did a good job putting us in that stand and assured us a shot at a doe, she came in, and I shot and made a lethal hit. We then went off to track the Buck and followed him for hours; we lost the blood trail and never recovered the Deer. I feel bad about hitting two bucks and losing both but that's archery hunting, it happens to us all sometimes but to have it be my son and I both in the same trip wasn't ideal. Overall, Tim grossly undersold and over delivered for us. We're happy and will be coming back again. You can trust this outfitter, he may not have the best stories up front that other outfitters do, but you can count on what he says as the truth, and then some. Vic Ronder

Great time with Red Dog

After consulting with Butch Manasse Outdoor Adventures, he highly recommended Red Dog Outfitters for a DIY whitetail hunt. I can honestly say that it was one of my best hunting experiences, having hunted with BMOA internationally for some years now. Can`t say how much I appreciate Red Dog (aka Tim) for giving such a hands-on hunt. After looking over the stand and camera placement, I would not change anything. The only problem was that I never got to get into the jacuzzi!! All stands had safety ropes attached and the placements were my choice also. Good luck bowhunting this year. I may have to try it next year. John Cross ps. If clients need to talk, I`m available.

Awesome hunt

We had a great time. A storm was coming in and we got our limit of ducks, plus 3 snow geese in about 3 hours. My 69 year old dad had a blast as well. Trey had the birds all over us. Thanks Jason, Matt, Ernie.

My whitetail Hunt

This was my first whitetail hunt ever. I didnt know what to expect, or really what I was doing to be honest. I Met Tim (Red Dog Outfitters) at the sportsmans show in 2011. After a breaf conversation with him i decided to book a hunt. He kept me informed on the differn't deer throughout the year, as well as let me come hang stands and get familar with the hunting area. Well Novemeber came and boy was my mind blown the first morning in the stand. I passed on 15 differn't bucks the first day. There were deer everywhere. I wanted a 130+ buck so I patiently waited and passed on several bucks over the next few days. Well, lets just say I missed my shot at a 150 inch buck on the fifth day. I had a great time and learned alot from Red Dog Outfitters. I would highley reccomend booking with them if you want a quality hunt at a fair price.

Very Satisfied With Red Dog Outfitting

I am very satisfied with Tim Clark and Red Dog Outfitting. I used RDO for both Turkey and Pheasant this year and my hunt met every expectation and agreement that was made with Tim. Tim goes out of his way to make sure everything is going as agreed and that I am getting the most out of my hunt. I was successful on both of my hunts and the landowners that Tim worked out for me were equally as accommodating and friendly. Tim is very trustworthy and if he says he is going to do something, then you can count on it. I find his prices competitive and provide real value for an excellent hunt. Five Stars!

combo duck goose hunt with red dog outfitters

CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW IMPRESSED WE WERE WITH THIS OPERATION. TIM IS THE ULTIMATE PRO. OUR INTRESTS WERE HIS PRIMARY CONCERN. WE HAD ORIGINALLY BOOKED A SNOW GOOSE HUNT LAST YEAR, AND TIM CALLED TO TELL US THAT THERE WERE NOT ALOT OF GEESE IN THE AREA. SO HE GLADLY REBOOKED US IN THE FALL WHEN HE THOUGHT THE HUNTING WOULD BE BETTER. HE WAS RIGHT. MOST OUTFITTERS WOULD OF TAKEN OUR MONEY AND TAKEN US ON A LOUSY HUNT, BUT TIM MADE IT RIGHR WIYH US. I WOULD "HIGHLY" RECOMMEND RED DOG OUTFITTERS TO ANYONE. BILL

pheasant hunt

I don't usaually use guides but time was short so Tim set us up with Jared and Dan in Colby Kansas for a one day hunt. I felt like I had hunted with these guys for years they were tuned in and hunted hard all day. We hunted beautiful terrain with birds staying in close and the dogs working perfectly. They seem to have endless access to land that most of us would drool over it was definitely worth the money. Kansas has great walk in areas but mixing a day with these guys would make your trip worth remembering. Thanks for the hunt, loved it.

Excellent time with Red Dog

I have hunted whitetail for the past 2 seasons with Red Dog and had great success both hunts. I saw plenty of deer in the realtively short time I spent in the field. Tim with Red Dog is an extremely knowledgable guide and was able to put me in several great locations on the property. He was spot on with the location and habits of the local deer. The property is excellent for whitetail as well as a nearby river holding plenty of waterfowl. Tim is a great guy to work with and I would definately recommend Red Dog. Their hospitality and service were also exceptional.

Red Dog outfitters hits a home run.

Hunted 2 days. Initial call with Tim went well in terms of scheduling as we only had a few weekends available. Tim was able to fit us in which helped out. We had bid on a 2 day hunt with Red Dog outfitters through a Ducks Unlimited banquet (Thanks Red Dog for supporting D.U.!), and were excited to hunt southeast Colorado as we had heard their were good flights on the Arkansas. Tim set us up with one of his young guides (Trey). Trey was a good fit for us as he was personable, easy going, and had a good sense of humor. He took time to help us with our calling techniques and shared tips for calling in the blind which was helpful. Trey was very knowledgeable and unlike many guides I have been around, did not possess a "mightier than thou" ego... Had a quick am goose hunt and shot 7 geese with 2 major groups coming in. Slow morning with only 2 groups coming over but we took advantage. Plenty of decoys and supplies made for an attractive spread. Afternoon duck hunts in a cut corn field ended up being "epic". I have watched video before of hundreds of ducks flying into a field but never been part of it until this weekend. In this case, it was several thousand (no joke) that came in to our field over an hour time frame. It was truly a 2 day hunt we will never forget. By the way, Trey had scouted this field several days earlier so he knew were they were feeding. Tim and Patty (owners), were very humble people who have a servant mentality. They wnat to eensure thier clients have a fun time. Lunch was a pleasant surprise of wild venison burgers and Brats along with sausage and cheese. All in, a quality 2 day hunt. Planning to take my 2 young boys back for a late season hunt...

Alberta Hunting Information

Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.
