Colorado RFW Hunt

My father in law and I booked this hunt after speaking with Doyle Worbington on the phone a few times. We opted for the RFW hunt near Hayden, CO due to the success rates. This was our first ever guided hunt and Doyle certainly made us feel comfortable. After arriving we met our guide, JD, and discussed what we were looking for in the hunt and some of the limitations we might have. Right off the bat the first morning we were in elk. My father in law took a very nice 4x4 with some very long eye guards firs thing. We hunted several more days and were in elk every one of them but just didn't get the opportunity to take a good clean shot. On the next to last evening I was able to take a nice 5x5. I can't say enough about the guides. JD, Brent, and Connor put in a lot of work to make it happen and were genuinely good people to be around. I would absolutely go back and recommend to anyone I know.

THE FIRST MORNING THERE WERE 7 MATURE BULLS TO PICK FROM IN THE GULCH (MY FAVORITE SPOT)AND I KILLED A REAL NICE 6X6. 10 MINUTES LATER MY BUDDY KILLED A NICE 5X5 A QUARTER MILE AWAY. THERE WERE 14 LEGAL BULLS IN A SMALL AREA IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER.NEEDLESS TO SAY EVERYONE HAD A GREAT TIME.THE ONE GUY WHO DIDN'T KILL AN ELK HAD HIS CHANCES.NEXT YEAR HE IS GOING TO PRACTICE HIS LONG RANGE SHOOTING A WHOLE LOT MORE.IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO HUNT WITH GOOD HONEST PEOPLE GIVE DOYLE A CALL YOU WON'T BE SORRY

Reviewer Comments: Doyle and his guides are friendly, know there areas and love to hunt. We stayed in nice cabins and had excellent food. We were on the front end of the rut and everyday got better. Glassed, hiked and called every day. Avg bull saw was 250 to 300 but there was a 320+ couldn't get on. Just a well run operation and I booked for 4 other friends in 2007-archery. Feel free to call with any questions.

Reviewer Comments: Doyle has put together a fantastic hunting operation in some of the most gorgeous country I have ever seen. Our trip was a bowhunting combination for Mule Deer and Elk. We were into trophy Elk nearly ever day of the hunt. The Mule deer were huge and so plentiful I actually begin to expect to see them around every bend of the cabin road. We harvested a nice mule deer and had numerous opportunities at some unbelievable elk. I thoroughly enjoyed every member of the staff and would have had a great hunt even without the countless game encounters. Accommodations are perfect and the food is worth the trip. I will be returning to the Canyon Rim Ranch for many years to come and I would recommend to anyone that they book a hunt with Doyle. I would strongly suggest calling early as his camps are in high demand and for good reason.

Reviewer Comments: Doyle runs a friendly, organized camp. He had several areas that we hunted and both Doyle and his guides know their stuff. We were included in the decisions on how we liked to hunt and why we would go to different areas depending on the Elk. We saw Elk every day and he has mule deer right at base camp (log cabins with showers). Both my hunting partner and I are going back. Fred Gill

Reviewer Comments: We took the late 5 day hunt for Elk with J&D Outfitters Nov 6th thru the 10th. I saw plenty of bulls on the first morning and was able to shoot a very nice 6X6 on the first night. My partner saw bulls and finally got a good 5X5 on tues. morning. The guides were very knowledgeable of the area, well equiped and interesting. There was plenty of good food/water and good sleeping quarters. It was a very relaxing and a good hunt for me.
