Reviewer Comments: Hunted the 2005 Muzzleloader season with hunting buddy through Coffeepot Outfitters. Kelley and Monte Sandburg are very straight forward and honest about what to expect when booking through them. If you want a 400" bull, go with someone else. If you want a 300" bull and a great experience at a reasonable cost, book with them. We saw alot of animals and never saw another hunter. Shot my bull first morning of hunt and my buddy got his the next evening. Had opportunities at legal bulls each time we went out. High elevations can be expected. Our camp was at 11,450. You need to be in pretty good physical condition if you expect to get an animal. Both of our animals were harvested within a mile of our camp. Guide was exceptional. I learned more in a few days of hunting with him about calling and hunting elk than I have in 8 years of do-it-yourself hunts. Was worth the money just for the education!

Reviewer Comments: Hunted unit 66 muzzloader Elk hunt in the powderhorn wilderness, Coffee Pot High Country Outfitters provided everything they promised. My partner and I both scored on nice 5x5 bull elk in the first two days. This wilderness area is worth the wait for the muzzloader tag, no hunters and lots of elk. Terry Morrison our Guide was awesome, that boy knows how to hunt elk. If you are frustrated with subpar elk hunts in Colorado, look these people up, best no pressure elk hunt I have ever been on.\ Thumbs up to monte, kelley and Terry and the crew Kurt Calkins klcalks@charter.net

Utah Hunting Information

Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.

Illinois Hunting Information

Illinois is widely known as a top trophy whitetail destination. Illinois also has some great waterfowl hunting, especially in southern portions of the state.

New Mexico Hunting Information

New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
