My Hunt

My Father-in-law and my nephew and I just got back from broadmouth Canyon Ranch, Cow elk hunting. The staff was AMAZING!!😀 the food was INCREDIBLE!!😋 Adrian was an amazing chief! all the guides were really nice and professional. They have the most amazing stories to tell about there hunting experiences. I can't see enough about this hunting outfit. The only negative thing I can say is about the butcher, the butcher that they use stole most of my backstrap, my heart and my tongue. not to mention my father-in-laws backstrap and tenderloins were missing as well as his heart. The way the butcher deboned the elk was SUPER slopping. We found a ton of hair, and leaves and dirt in our Elk, NOT too mention a lot of the meat was blood shot. My father-in-law shot the elk twice close to the lung and heart area. The blood shot meat were closer to the front upper shoulder. He shot no where near that area, I feel that the butcher gave him someone else's cow elk. Just BEWARE of the Butcher!!! 😲🤬

Idaho Elk Hunt

I bow hunted elk on their Idaho high fence ranch in the fall of 2015. I was very reluctant to hunt a high fence for various reasons but made the decision after a lot of reference (not provided by Broadmouth) checking. I wanted to bow hunt, but have the option to take one with a rifle if not successful. The hunting was very hard on rugged terrain and the elk were wary. Any change in the wind they were off the moment they got our scent. It was obvious day one that it was going to be a major challenge to take an archery elk and sure enough that opportunity didn't materialize. I hunted the last day with a rifle and that wasn't much easier although I did take an elk at 265 yards after working more than hour trying to get closer. If you are going here to hunt, prepare yourself physically because it will be a challenge and you will have to earn whatever you harvest. It is beautiful land with beautiful wildlife. In addition to elk, we saw a couple of Shiras moose and some other hunters saw black bears.

Reviewer Comments: Rulon Jones runs a 1st class operation at both his Idaho and Utah locations. I have hunted elk at both places and my most recent hunt in Idaho in 2007 could not have been better. The cooks, guides, (Jadan and Kent in particular) go out of their way to make the trip unforgettable. I will certainly return again in the future. Keep up the great work!

Alberta Hunting Information

Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.

New Mexico Hunting Information

New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.

Manitoba is known as a top destination for avid waterfowl hunters. Huge flocks of ducks and geese can be found from the Arctic coast of Hudson Bay to the prairie potholes on the southern border of this Canadian province.
