Rio Texas turkey hunt

Bob Wisniewski did not live up to his word. Prior to my son's and my hunt I let Bob know my son had a mild case of cerebral palsy and couldn't walk long distances. That makes it hard for him to hunt in Arkansas since bait is illegal and one must walk. I asked him if Jr. could shoot one of my birds as I didn't care. He said that would not be a problem. Nothing illegal mind you as our license allowed four birds but Bob allowed two birds each. Well Jr. got two the first morning and you guessed it, Bob wanted Jr. to stay at the "lodge." The "lodge" was a dilapidated house off Main St. in Seymour, TX. Six of us were staying in this two bedroom, one bath house. The first thing that happened was our only toilet clogging and overflowing on the floor. Bob found a plumber six hours later. Bob was reluctant to even take us out on the afternoon hunt. Wanted to wait for the plumber to bring his bill!i told Bob that Jr. would not stay at the "lodge" but would go out and at least watch. Last note, we couldn't even watch the NCAA basketball games because Bob "couldn't afford cable!" We left after the first days hunt, not disappointed in the hunt, it was ok but rather having an outfitter whose word wasn't honored. Posting to save someone else the same disappointment! Anyone may contact me as I could elaborate more, maybe send pic of "lodge!"

Hunt with Winterhawk

Drove out from NY with a friend. We arrived early and the hospitality was great. I really enjoyed the hunt, the accomodations, the food was plentiful and excellent. We had a great time talking with Larry, Laura, and all the guides. I did not score on an Elk but the experience was excellent. They went out of there way to provide us a quality hunt. We encountered some extremely warm weather that quieted the bulls down but thats why they call it hunting not killing. I plan on going back and would highly recommend Winterhawk to anyone looking for a great hunt. One side note: Get in shape!! You will enjoy it that much more. Wayne Christiansen Cropseyville Ny

i have been bow hunting elk for the last 23 years and recently decided to take my son on a drop camp hunt with winterhawk outfitters. i had hunted with larry on a previous ocassion and decided to to go back with my 14 year old.while my son did not kill a elk we had opportunity that will be in my sons memories for a lifetime.nothing makes a impression like a bull elk at 12 yards!! what made this trip a success was how larry accomodated us for our hunt. i know this was a drop camp but i am talking about the whole experience and winterhawk truly delivered. the ride to camp was great with safety of my son being my first concern and they did a excellent job.they did everything they could to provide a great hunt and the staff at winterhawk busted their ass.the drop camp was as good as it gets and while i found no bulls tied to trees in our camp there was plenty of game, we busted our tail to get on them but that is elk hunting.elk hunting offers no sure things and while i chose to pass a couple of bulls and my son never released a arrow this will always be one of the best hunts i have been on.i highly recommend winterhawk because of their commitment to the customer and that is the biggest part of a hunt

Wyoming Hunting Information

Wyoming is a great state for hunters! It offers a wide variety of good big game, turkey, small game, upland and predator hunting.

Iowa Hunting Information

Iowa is one of the best Midwestern states for monster whitetail bucks. Non-residents must apply for a tag in their annual drawing. Archery tags are the most sought after and depending on what units you apply for generally take 2-4 years to draw.

Utah Hunting Information

Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.
