One Great Hunt
A Great Hunt Mike Branson and his staff couldn't do enough for our crew (5). They worked so hard to make our trip great. Although we didn't harvest elk, we heard them, saw plenty of sign, had a chance at a wolf, but that is what hunting is all about. The accommodations were as advertized. wilderness but more that adequate. His mules and horses were great

My first Black Bear
Incredible hunt in the Gospel Hump Wilderness. I was able to harvest my first trophy Black Bear on the first day. Mike and Jaylene made it all possible, with safety, accomodations and service from the time our party was picked up in Boise until dropping us off at the airport. Mike even personally dropped off my bear run in Louisville. Can't beat that for service.

My first Bull Elk

great choice!
Ive hunted with windriver outfitting in idaho many times now for elk, bear, & deer. Ive also hunted with many other outfitters throughout the u.s. & canada over the last 20 years. From my experience, it would be hard to beat the service, & committment that you get when you hunt with mike & jaylene branson. Ive harvested an animal on approx 50% of my hunts, & had opportunity to shoot, but chose not to on almost all. Remember that this is a WILDERNESS HUNT!!! THere is no holiday inn around the corner. Mikes horses & mules are well behaved, & well trained, even for the novice rider. The food is excellent, you have comfy cots, floors in the tents, wood stoves in tents, & even a portable shower, which i havent found previous in wilderness camps. This is not a gauranteed hunt! It is just that, a hunt & not a shoot! If you are looking for a gaurantee, hunt on a game farm. But i can say that harvesting a fair chase elk in the mountains of idaho is more rewarding than going to the farm. You will get an A+ effort out of mike & his staff, & thats all a hunter can ask for. A good choice!!

elk hunt
The hunt was spectacular.Mike and jaylene along with the guides and wrangler did a top notch job.The country was very rugged and very beautiful, The Salmon River Breaks are absolutely the best. Although we didn't get elk,other people in camp did. We did however have opportunities that didn't pan out.I am planning to book another hunt with Wind River Outfitters. The tents were warm and comfortable and the food was nothing short of amazing.This was a wonderful experience with remarkable people.

Bear Hunts
In 2003 I hunted with Mike and Jaylene Branson,and killed a record book black bear.On this hunt I took a very nice cinnamon.The hunts were one on one.The scenery was awesome.The camp was comfortable,and the food was great.I highly Recommend these hunts.

top notch outfitter
Cold, cold, cold...but nice warm heated tents for sleeping. Great meals, great stock. Good experienced guides. Great hunt and outfitter. I will hunt with Mike again. Ohhhh yeah...the game? I was only wishing I had more than one deer and elk tag. We saw lots of game!

First of my many hunts with Mike and Jaylene
This was my first guided hunt. I had wanted to go on a wilderness elk hunt since I was going up in Western NY. I selected Wind River Outfitters after talking to Mike Branson. It was a successful hunt with excellent service and great meals provided by Jaylene, Mike and their staff of guides and wrangler. I harvested a 6x6 bull elk and a 3x3 mule deer.

Bull Elk for a customer
This was my fifth hunt with Mike and Jaylene. I took a customer and he harvested a seven by six bull elk that Mike called in at 10:30am on the opening morning. We had been traveling down drainage since before sunrise setting up, calling and then continuing down. As we set up the last time there were a small pack of wolves howling on the ridge above us. This didn’t seem to bother the bull who came out of a wallow less than a hundred yards away and stood above my customer staring at him for a few minutes. Then the bull turned his head allowing Rich to shoot. A very successful hunt enjoyed by all due to the hard work of Mike and Jaylene.
