Bad Hunt

Been on lots of outfitted hunts and understand that as long as the Outfitter tries hard and is honest it is still a good hunt even if you don't get the game. With Chambeaux I came back feeling ripped off from start to finish. When our group had issues in Montreal the person we needed to talk to was in Lac Pau, when we were in Lac Pau the person we needed to speak to was in Montreal. They over charged to hell out of us an no one ever had the authority to talk to us about it. If that wasn't enough we sat in camp 15 day after day being told that the planes couldn't fly to get us to the Caribou because of the weather. We would then watch plains flying past us. We finely got flown out to the Caribou the day before we had to leave. We got off the plain at about 11:00 AM and was told "only take one animal and be back to the plane by 3:00PM". If you look at your overall expense we paid all most $2,000.00 per hunting hour. This outfitter gave us no priority, knew before the hunt that the Caribou were over 100 mile from our camp and would do nothing to address our over charging issues. I would never recommened this outfitter.

Caribou Hunt

To start from the beginning we felt they were taking advantage of us. The weight of our luggage was weighed in Montreal by staff telling us we were over 900lbs and would have to pay extra. When we arrived in Lac Pau we were found to be only 300lbs over ad differance of $500. We arrived at our camp meeting the hunters from the previous hunt who had shot 2 caribou. When the other hunters left they also took with them the broken down generator so we were left without a generator that would power the satelite phone. Luckily, one of the individuals in our camp had a satellite phone which would be used by the staff to contact the base. We were told when we arrived at Lac Pau that the caribou where over 100 miles to the north and hadn't migrate this far south and hadn't for the past 2 years. We would have to wait for a plane to fly us to the caribou, this took 7 days. Altimately, when we were flown out we had 4-5 hours to find a caribou, shoot it and get it back to the airplane and we were only allowed to shoot 1 caribou. Overall, the hunt was a great disappointment and the feeling that we were getting taken advantage and were last on the priority list to get a caribou. When we were told the planes were unable to fly to us we actually heard planes flying. I believe the outfitter has made outfitting a last priority and are using their plans to transport miner to the north. Best advise I would give someone is to look for an outfitter that has camps to the north where the caribou are located and would discourage anyone from using them.

excellent hunt

The outfitter did exactly what was promised and more. The caribou were not south far enough where our camp was so they flew us up to where they were and all eight of us killed out on two caribou. The camp cook and guide were very knowledgeable and offerd a great deal of help ,even though we were unguided.I would recommend this outfitter to anyone interested

a week of nothing

Went on a caribou hunt for the first week of Sept. Long story short; NO CARIBOU WITHING 100 KILOMETERS OF CAMP!!! and they knew that before we got there. Not only were none there but ZERO caribou taken in all of last year from this camp!!!

Worst hunt imaginable

This was a European Plan hunt that was semi-guided in that there were no caribou within 20 miles of camp #22 and after 4 days of sitting in camp Club Chambeaux sent in a float plane to take me and two other hunters in my party 37 miles to where there were some caribou. Without boring you with the details of the first 5 days, we were dropped off on the shore of a small lake about 9 AM and told to be back to the drop-off by 3:30 in the afternoon. I killed a black bear and two caribou and with the help of my son-in-law we were able to get one full caribou and the front half of the other back to the drop-off by 3:30. The plane did not arrive until 4:30 and because of the wind we had to leave all of the caribou on the side of the lake overnight. The next day, which was the last day of the hunt, Club Chambeaux flew the last two hunters in camp with tags to fill, one with two caribou tags and one with just a bear tag, back to the general area of the previous days hunt and dropped them off and then retrieved the animals that had been carried to the previous drop-off. The problem for me was that they would not take me back to allow me to retrieve the bear or back 1/2 of the other caribou. Very unethical to leave game in the field. Attempts to get Club Chambeaux to address my complaints have gone unresolved.

Do Not waste your money very bad

Very bad hunt. No Caribou. We went on the American plan and it was not good. Hunted 5 days did not see any animals. We were there the second week of season. Club Sham U had flew in extra hunters the 1st week and killed all animals around our camp. American plan was to include all meals. We did not have drinking water for first 3 days. cooks oven was broke until 5th day. They finaly flew us to another camp 1/2 day before we left to come home. We had 1 very small caribou killed. We had 6 hunters in our group. They had a total of 18 hunters at the first camp. All they want is your money. Do not care about customer. When we talked to the head guy, Stephen, after it was over he offered $1,500 off of a trophy hunt for 2011. He also wanted us to pay cash under the table so the owners of Club Sham U ( as we all called them) would not know he was going to keep the money. We talked to over 30 hunters that flew out the same day and none of them had anything good to say.
