Reviewer Comments: Just returned from a whitetail deer hunt with Mt. Hide on a private ranch in Panhandle Texas north of Canadian. Steve takes only four bucks a year from this property. They put Double Bull ground blinds up months ahead of time and do a good job of monitoring numerous game cameras to identify bucks and their patterns. I saw 36 deer the first evening, more bucks than does. I saw 18 the second evening (did not hunt that morning). Both my fellow hunter Bill and I took big bucks the first night around 5 pm in a light snow. I was fortunate to take a 13-pointer that grossed 161 inches--my largest ever by a good bit! Shot a big old doe the second day. Bill took a Rio Grande turkey. Best hunt I have ever been on. Steve does a good job sending emails and pictures of deer they have seen.

Reviewer Comments: This was my second hunt with Mt hide. Last year the weather pretty much shut us down with unseasonably warm conditions. Deer movement was late at night. This year the first morning was 10 degrees with a minus 8 degree wind chill factor. It was cold. Deer movement was excellent. On the afternoon hunt I had 27 deer in a field 15 were bucks. I'll admit I probably pulled the trigger sooner that I should have. I shot a nice 9pt mature buck the scored in the low 140's. I didnt want to chance the warmer weather coming in. But theres always another year. This is a no frills hunt with very good leases and people who want you to be successful, not just take your money. If your serious about whitetail deer give Steve a look.

Reviewer Comments: Another year, another great hunt with Mt. Hide. In my opinion Mt. Hide is the best whitetail outfitter in the Country. There reputation is growing and all the TV shows are jumping over each other to hunt with Steve. Early muzzleloader in Kansas is a unique experience. The bucks are out of velvet but still in groups. If you go expect the weather to be hot, bugs to be biting, and deer really only move early and late. But when they are moving expect to see some of the best deer you have ever seen. Thanks again Steve, see you in OK in a couple of months.

Reviewer Comments: Thanks for another exceptional hunt. Returned to Kansas, unit 15 after not connecting during muzzleloader. Of course it was 58 degrees when we arrived, the mercury never went above 30 once we started hunting though, and even dipped to -1 one morning, and if you have never hunted the midwest, windstopper fabric is a MUST as the wind never stops!! Thank goodness for tent blinds!! I have waited 5 years to be able to hunt Steve's Kansas properties and can tell you it won't be 5 more before I go back. We saw so many 130" 2 year olds that we immediately booked that property for next year! Seeing deer is never an issue, as Steve says you have to pass the 130's to get to the 170's. 3 of us scored on nice deer, the biggest being in the 140's, even though we had 3 days left to hunt, passing deer is tough!! Thanks Steve and Cody, see you in the spring for Turkey!! Mt. Hide = success, friendship, great people, adn the best deer hunting properties in the country!!

Reviewer Comments: This was my second year and 5th hunt with Mt. Hide and each time I continue to be impressed with this operation. Each and every guide that I have hunted with not only knows the area and deer but is a hunter himself and his only goal is for his hunter to take the best deer he can. Mt. Hide uses trail cameras more than anyone I have ever seen, so you know the deer in the area where you are hunting. I have hunted from Alaska to Mexico and have not found a outfitter that even comes close to Mt. Hide.

Reviewer Comments: These guys are the first outfitters I've been to that want to work as hard or harder than the client. This is a no frills, get up at 3 AM, hunt hard all day,no holds barred, pursuit of big deer. They had me in the stand 30-45 minutes prior to shooting light every morning. The guide then moves to another area to glass and look for deer while you hunt. You have radios, so that you can come out when ready, or the guide can let you know if he has spotted something that he needs to get you on. While I was there, out of 13 hunters, 3 bagged whitetail that would gross over 170. I shot the largest whitetail that I saw, a 133 10 pt, that I misjudged. I saw an average of 8-10 deer per sitting, morning or afternoon. I saw deer scoring at least 125 or 130 every day. The Mule deer hunting there is underrated in my opinion. We had 2 muleys of 170-180 class harvested, and 2 smaller ones with 27" spreads. I talked to landowners on the ranches that had seen several muleys pushing 30". The potential for big bucks is exceptional, and a hunter willing to put in his time has a fair shot at a buck that will push book.

Reviewer Comments: Hated putting yes to the question about recommending this Steve & Cody because I want it all to myself. Just returned from Kansas early muzzleloader, another fantastic experience!! One word of advice if you book this hunt, get a therma-cell or other quality bug control device. Steve and Cody know these deer in all the states they hunt (Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas). They told us excatly what to expect at each stand, where the deer would come from and the direction they would leave. We have been on a lot of outfitted hunts, Steve and Cody are by far the best, no question. This was my 5th hunt with them and we are going back for rifle this year, turkey in the spring, Antelope and deer in at least 1 state next year. Waited 5 years for this Kansas hunt and was certainly not disappointed!! Thank you Steve & Cody for a great experience and fantastic hunt, see you November!

Reviewer Comments: I first hunted with Mt. Hide during the muzzleloader hunt in 2005, Kansas had record high temps, 104 degrees, 4 hunters in camp 174, 155 and 147 B&C were killed, I did not kill. My friend killed the 147 10 point that weighed 270 pounds, it looked like an elk. Steve invited me back for late rifle hunt, if a space opened up, it did. Again I did not harvest a buck, but saw the largest whitetail I have ever seen in 25 years of hunting around the country. I saw quality animals on most every hunt. I am booked for 2006. Hunted turkeys in Oklahoma in 2006, the only bad part of the hunt was the duration. I hunted literally less than 1 hour in 2 days and killed 2 mature birds. I am booked for 2007. If you are serious about harvesting a buck of a life time and hunting the best hunting guides, look Steve and his brother Cody up. If you want a guaranted hunt go to a high fence.
