Christopher Grant of BVO has got the land and deer. He knows his stuff and will do his best to put you on a mature buck. Just listen to him, sit still, and be patient. The rest is up to you. In the week I hunted with him, six hunters went 6 for 6 on bucks ranging from 145" to 170". And that was with archery equipment. Unbelievable.

Well it is safe to say that if you want to kill a monster whitetail, Big Valley Outfitters and Kansas is the way to go. My cousin, Alan Perrette, and I went Nov of 2009 and it was needless to say enjoyable and successful. Alan arrowed a 168in 10 pt. and I followed the next day with a 156in 8pt. Alan passed away with cancer April 2010, so this trip was our last hunting trip together. Christopher Grant and his staff did everything we asked and more. They call themselves "The A Team" and with good reason. I do not know what their average was at the end of the season but when we were there, let's just say my monster 156in 8pt, was below "The A Team" average. The hunt did start off a little slow, but with a drop in temp., the rut was on. Being from Louisiana, rattling and grunting is not the norm, but on the land that Mr. Grant has, it is. He told me before my hunt to rattle, he followed with if you do not see smoke coming from your rattling horns then you are not doing it enough. I rattled up three bucks over 150 the next day. One was a young 10pt they was just out of range and the other a crazy not typical, that they had many trail photos of, which I could not get a clean shot at because he must have smelled where Alan had killed his deer the day before, just about 70 yards from where I killed mine. Big Valley Outfitter's made it the best hunting trip my couisin and I have ever taken. If you have any questions or want to hear the whole hunt, please feel free to email me at danyont@yahoo.com Thanks, Danyon Thomas

I have seen the results from the past couple years hunts from Christopher and the quality of deer killed has risen every single year. This just shows that Big Valley Outfitters (BVO) is doing the right things to continuously improve the quality of hunts on a year to year basis. I have wanted to hunt the Midwest for years and finally made the trip last Fall. Throughout the week, I passed the same 140in 10pt multiple times. I had a 160+in 9pt within 75 yds on the second afternoon. I saw 30+ deer everday with most of those being bucks. My goal for the week was to kill my first Pope & Young whitetail. I was able to kill a mature 130in 8pt that weighed 260lbs. I had multiple opportunities on other P&Y whitetails that were not mature, so I did not shoot. Christopher knew my goals for the week and was able to put me in the right areas to increase my chances of accomplishing this goal. I would recommend BVO to any hunters who are looking to experience why Kansas is one of the best places in the country to hunt whitetails. BVO is positioned in the best areas of Kansas to kill your deer of a lifetime. I plan to go back, and I am confident that I will have an opportunity to take my biggest buck ever.

Big Valley Outfitters was a great choice for me. I really enjoyed the hunting and the hospitality. The lodging was just enough for what I was looking for and the hunting was EXCELLENT. Christopher has Kansas whitetails down to a science and some of the best property in the area. If you are looking for a fair priced hunt that focuses on the quality of the hunt and not all the lodging hoopla I would definetly consider Big Valley Outfitters. Look Below to see the results they got for me!

I saw many bucks and killed a 154" whitetail from the comfort of a box blind. Lots of deer and beautiful scenery.

Facilities-Stayed in a very nice farm house with nice living room, pool table, dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms(with great beds) and everthing you would need for a great stay. Well decorated for the sportsman with pictures of deer slayed from the past as well as some of the biggest sheds I've ever seen. Hunting Area- Chris has some prime time areas leased. Very comfortable Buck Blaster Ladder Stands allow you to sit all day if you want. Hunted a variety of Farm land and river bottoms. Saw plenty of deer and buck, but no one saw one over the 140" minimum except my father(saw one at 350 yards at dusk). Definetly an area with huge potential. Be careful of video and pictures of live deer. Chris has whats called his sanctuary area(we were not told about) He charges additional fee(I think $700) to hunt in that area where he says the biggest bucks hang out. We were allowed to hunt it for free the last day of the hunt for free when no one had taken a deer yet. I personally believe the group of five hunters before us were all hunting the same stands and pressured the animals into being nocturnal. We were told all stands would be rotated and were not pressured. We found that was not true. Food- This was a huge disappointment! We were told that there would be a cook on site for us. I was expecting a hot meal every evening upon coming home from a long hunt. Chris' cook mysteriously did not show up at camp and every meal except one stouffers lasagna was eaten in town a different restraunts. Breakfeast and Lunch cereal and sandwich style that you had to make yourself. If I would have not expected a cook this wouldn't have been an issue, but I have eaten better at some drop camps. Chris- Chris was our only guide and being that it was his business and we were some of his first clients there were many things for him to learn. Chris had alot going on for running this operation by himself. If he would have had a helper I feel it would have been much easier on him and the hunters. Chris is southern guy, about 25 at the time we hunted with him, full of expectations for killing huge buck off his land. He is a bit stubborn, but very funny when you get to know him. He seems very knowledgable about all kinds of hunting and has a good bit of experience doing so. Chris even let us hunt the afternoon we got there and the morning we left that was not part of our contractual hunt. He truly wanted to see us kill and tried his best to get us on an animal. It was enjoyable to hunt on his property out there and hope to go back one day for an archery hunt during the rut. I rated this hunt a two because none of us had a shot opportunity and we hunted every day morning and evening for 4-5 hours. We did exactly as told and still had no luck. We know there were big buck there but I believe that if you pay big money and travel 24 hours to hunt trophy whitetail, you should at least see a few of them. Like I said above, we had a good time and had a great place to stay with good company. You could tell that Chris was a bit new to the guiding business and that is why this scored a two rather than a three or four. If someone would have killed I would have scored it a 3 or a 4. I am sure Chris has had ample time and experience now to get things going a little smoother and I am sure some terrific animals were taken off his leased land. Happy Hunting!
